A) BFSI:
1) Tata Trusts propose Tata Sons reorganisation to avoid listing
- Tata Trusts have proposed merging Tata Electronics Systems Solutions and Tata Consulting Engineers into Tata Sons, so Tata Sons can stop being treated as an NBFC/CIC and remain an unlisted company.
- The proposal needs RBI approval and comes after the RBI rejected Tata Sons’ earlier request to surrender its NBFC registration. The Trusts believe the new structure could help Tata Sons avoid a public listing.

2) Gautam Adani, 4 group firms settle Sebi case for Rs 1.48 crore
- Gautam Adani, four Adani Group companies and 13 others settled a Sebi case related to alleged violations of minimum public shareholding rules by paying a total of Rs 1.48 crore.
- The case dates back to complaints received in 2020, with Sebi later issuing notices over alleged MPS violations. The settlement was made without admitting or denying the allegations, and Sebi has now closed the proceedings.

B) Automobile:
1) GST relief fades as luxury car prices return to pre-tax levels within a year
- Luxury carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have raised prices several times since the September 2025 GST cut, reducing much of the benefit customers initially received.
- A weaker rupee and the high cost of imported components have increased costs for luxury carmakers, leading to higher vehicle prices that are now close to pre-GST-rationalisation levels.

C) Pharma:
1) Pharma stocks rise as US exempts certain Indian drugs from 100% tariff
- Pharma stocks such as Mankind Pharma, Dr Reddy’s and Gland Pharma rose after the US exempted certain speciality drugs from its 100% import tariff, benefiting eligible Indian drug exporters.
- The Nifty Pharma index gained over 1% during the session as investors saw the tariff exemption as a relief for Indian pharma companies, with the US being a major export market.

2) CDSCO steps up scrutiny of pharma drugs containing narcotic substances
- CDSCO is reviewing its rules to find gaps and prevent pharmaceutical drugs containing narcotic and psychotropic substances from being illegally diverted or misused.
- Under the government’s 2026–2029 drug-control plan, CDSCO has been given a target to address these regulatory gaps by March 2027 and strengthen monitoring of such medicines.

D) FMCG:
1) FMCG distributors raise concerns over ₹7,000–9,000 crore annual MDR burden
- The FMCG distributors’ body AICPDF said MDR on eligible UPI transactions could add an estimated ₹7,000–9,000 crore annual cost to the FMCG distribution and retail sector, which operates on thin margins.
- AICPDF said the same sales cycle could potentially face MDR at both the retailer and distributor payment stages. It will support the “No UPI Day” call on October 2, 2026, while saying it is not against UPI or digital payments.

1) India to reduce oil and gas dependence, Power Secretary says
- Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal said India needs to reduce its dependence on oil and gas and speed up the shift towards renewable energy.
- He highlighted that changing global conditions have made energy security more important, increasing the need for India to develop cleaner and more secure energy sources.

F) IT:
1) Infosys plans to move up to one-third workforce into specialist roles
- Infosys plans to shift around 25%–33% of its 3.2 lakh employees into specialist roles as AI changes the skills needed in the IT industry.
- The company also plans to build a team of about 6,000 “frontier engineers” focused on advanced technologies, while hiring talent from top Indian institutes and US campuses.

Indian Economy and Government Initiatives:
- India is set to release a new steel policy aimed at expanding steel production capacity to 600 million tonnes by 2047.
- Crown Packaging is investing ₹2,078 crore in an aluminium beverage-can manufacturing plant in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, creating over 200 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs. The project highlights how Uttar Pradesh’s investment policies are helping attract global companies and turn investment proposals into actual manufacturing and supply-chain projects.
- From October 15, UPI MDR of 0.4% will apply to certain merchant transactions above ₹2,000, but merchants cannot add it as a separate UPI fee to customers. However, merchants may indirectly recover the cost by increasing overall prices, depending on their margins and pricing power.
Indian Stock Market Update:
- Sensex fell 243 points to 72,529, while Nifty declined 64 points to 22,716 on the monthly expiry day.
